Can i connect direct esp32 and an Atmega.
Rx/tx Without levelshifter?

My experience is: Yes, if you insert a 470 Ohm resistor into the TX and RX lines in series. This limits the currents in conjunction with the input protection diodes

And the Arduino will accept 3v3 as a hight signal.
