I've not tried moving sprites around or switching buffers yet Fernando, but I created a butterfly animation by displaying alternative images (full width and half width), and found a trick to avoid needing to show a third 'blank' image (to erase where it had been) was to add a black border around the images so that they basically erase their own movements (if they don't move further than their border width).
This video clip shows a butterfly that is free to randomly wander up and down the right-hand side, but only uses the 2 wing images... https://odysee.com/@Electroguard:d/WeatherBugs:8
(after about a minute it switches to a different bugs screen where the bee is also supposed to wander - but is evidently an unplanned bug in that!)

I haven't read through the entire thread, but has anyone yet produced a PCB for a VGA-enabled S3 device for Annex32?

I think that Robin (Electroguard) is waiting for a delivery from JLPCB .
Personally I'm still using prototype perforated board (I need reactivity ).
If you want just do a try with the VGA, you can just hack a VGA cable and connect the signals directly with the module using the 8 colors wiring (you can even try without the resistors, the colors will be just be saturated).
