Yep, purple is good.
Just to point out that they are not compatible with Wemos D1 Mini pinout.
They are smaller than the Wemos esp32 version and with 2 rows of 8 pins on each side instead of 2 rows of 10, so 8 pins less.
Physically the same size as the Wemos ESP8266 version, but with the outer 2 rows of 8 pins lining up with esp8266 holes,
However, power pins are moved to the outer rows, so do seem to coincide with the esp8266 power pins, even lthough most other pins are very different.
Which means that things like a cheap wemos d1 mini prototyping shield should be fine 'as-is', and many other D1 mini shields may be usable with either simple software pin reassignments or minor track mods.
All in all, looks to be a nice, small, neat, low-cost, esp-32 module.

Re: Cheap ESP32's
I was just looking at that and as you say, the DI Mini Shield compatibily which is mentioned in many articles on the S2 Mini is not really without a bit of work!
Wemos do an IL9341 based 2.4" display with touch screen controller which the S2 Mini plugs in the back of which is rather neat.
I wonder if the forthcoming version of Annex for the S2 could handle the pin assignments

Re: Cheap ESP32's
Do you have a link for that Wemos S2 display ?
All I could find was the one below for the standard Wemos footprint, which is actually quite nice, but at nearly 20 quid isn't cheap.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3291972 ... lLMfd82bMq
If that's the one you were on about, the S2 pinout wouldn't be crucial anyway, cos the appropriate mods could be done on a wemos dual (or treble) base pcb which could plug straight in, with the S2 plugged into an empty socket.

Re: Cheap ESP32's
That's the one I was looking at, but it's showing as £11.19 + £3.24 p&p, closer to 15 quid but still pretty pricy.
I was thinking that was just a bit above par for the course for the normal ILI9341 2.4" with touch now but I see Aliexpress is showing widely varying prices for them, down to about a fiver. I'll probably just stick to my usual of mounting the ESP module on the back of the display and wiring across.
Bit more information here : https://www.wemos.cc/en/latest/d1_mini_ ... t_2_4.html
Although if you were going to use Annex as a direct plugin to the Lolin board, these are the pin assignments you'd need :-
(Done in a hurry so may not be 100% correct)
TFT_CS GPIO5
Sck GPIO7
MISO GPIO9
MOSI GPIO11
DC GPIO12
TS_CS GPIO18
LED GPIO33

I'm reliably informed these ESP32 S2 modules have a design issue and are not recommended.[Local Link Removed for Guests] wrote: [Local Link Removed for Guests]Mon Aug 15, 2022 6:02 pm Here's a brief summary of the defferences between the ESP32 and ESP32-S2 : https://iotassistant.io/news/esp32-s2-vs-esp32/
