ESP32 S2 Bootet Annex nicht

Post by Michel Alexander »

Hallo,

Other ESP devices are programmed by serial UART after the ESP is put into flashing mode by temporarily holding the flashing button at bootup.
But my S2's are very different - my computer reports the inserted S2 USB device, but the S2 does not have a UART, so no UART driver is loaded for it.
My S2 devices are programmed different to anything else, because the flashing button must be held in continuously during flashing, else it will fail.

In Toolkit 1.1, selecting ESP32-S2 offers an extra USB submenu tab.
Click the USB tab to program the the device via the USB port.

I hold the S2 devices flashing button in as I insert the device into the computer USB port.
If the toolkit doesn't recognise any serial device present, I may need to close the Toolkit then re-open it again, while still holding in the flashing button.

If the flashing starts but fails part way it can be because the flashing speed is too high for the USB cable, so if any doubt, select a slower speed.
The flashing button needs to be held in until seeing the popup Flashed OK message.

ich habe dies schon mehrmals durchgeführt. Bei Read Module bekomme ich diese Meldung.

There are loads of ESP-32 variants, and more coming out all the time, but I know from my own experience that some cannot be flashed.
And it would not be the first time I received items that were either poorly designed or poorly made.
So if you certain that your USB cable can flash other devices ok, and you have already tried everything else, then maybe it's time to move on.

Hello Michael,
I have several ESP32-S2 that work well, with USB interface or Serial converter.
Have you tried to hold the button "GPIO-0" on the module during the flash phase?

Hallo,
