[Local Link Removed for Guests] wrote: [Local Link Removed for Guests]Thu Aug 18, 2022 8:11 am Not tried with Chrome yet. (not available on this PC).
It (F2) certainly used to work with Firefox but not tried it for a long time.
It was pre ESP32 support when I last tried F2, so something has broken since then. (I believe in my PC)
I always use bookmarks in Firefox and they work fine. (1.41, 1.42, 1.43, 1.44 & 1.44.2 all OK).
It was only because of Zim's issue that I tried F2 and opening the files in the 1.43.zip download.
I recall an issue with the help files for 1.43 not opening (script error) when I first downloaded them.
I tried to change them to the latest but got the same error and gave up because my bookmarks work OK.
I suspected then, as now, that this is related to my PC and/or Windows. I'll try and post the error message popup.
I did 'Google' the error message a while back but it pointed me to a registry entry so I left it at that and moved on.
I'll try Chrome later today. Meanwhile, anything else to try?

Edit:
This is the popup if try to open the help from the folder.

Thanks for your testing, this error message is "normal" and can be simply ignored.
In fact the documentation is generated automatically and I don't know how fix this problem.

I'm interested in the message that you have on the browser when F2 is pressed ....

Ok, I'll trust you that the message is "normal" but it did not always appear.
Not 100% sure when it started but somewhere around release 1.42
As for F2 in the editor. There is no message. Just nothing happens. (default Firefox)
Would it help (you) if I replace the file with something else?
Currently, I simply use a bookmark to [Local Link Removed for Guests]

Probably you have a popup blocker that inhibit the help page to open.
About the error, it happens since the beginning so it is nothing new

Popup blocker is possible. I did have it enabled at one time, but was sure I'd dissabled it due to issues with other software.
As for the error message, this is most certainly new for me. Did not happen a few years ago.
Google certainly had something to say about it but the fix was too complex/risky for me to be bothered with.
Anyway, thanks for your time and effort on this. For me it is a non issue as I use the URL links but I'll investigate a little further and let you know if I find anything of interest.

Hi
Is the F2 help file integrated in the flash, or pulled from the internet?

Hi cicciocb.

It appears that the F2 is invoking the wrong path. It seems any OTA upgrades to 1.44.2 work OK, but, not complete new flashes on a virgin chip.
I tried Edge and got the same issue.
Hope this helps

I tried all the browsers on my laptop with an ESP32 running Annex32 WiFi BLE CAN 1.44.2

Firefox - F2 worked after permitting pop-ups
Chrome - F2 worked
Opera - F2 worked
Edge - F2 worked
Brave - F2 worked
Internet Explorer - Nothing worked (surprise!)

Edit: I cant find a handy ESP8266 tonight - will repeat tests tomorrow.

Found and programmed ESP8266 with 1.44.2

Using same laptop and browsers

Firefox - F2 worked after permitting pop-ups
Chrome - F2 worked
Opera - different - File not found
Edge - F2 worked
Brave - different - File not found
Internet Explorer - did not try

So two browsers gave different results compared with ESP32

Retried the browsers that failed yesterday.

Opera - still refuses to work from F2 - but connects ok to cicciocb.com/annexhelp/V1.442/

Brave - curious - worked ok from F2 this morning but if I go to history and load yesterday's connection to 192.168.0.192/editor and use F2 it still fails
Don't understand that.
